Part of A Mother’s Journey, Moments in Joy #8 explores the moments of joy that have grounded me throughout the more challenging parts of motherhood.
Since becoming a mom, it has sometimes been easy to get caught up in the heavier emotions that come with such a monumental life transition. But alongside the grief, uncertainty, overwhelm, and responsibility, there is also so much joy. The laughter. The silliness. The tenderness. The small moments with my daughter that remind me why I keep going.
Moments in Joy is my way of intentionally holding onto those moments. Through intuitive mark-making, movement, and layered color, this painting celebrates joy not as an escape from life's complexity, but as part of it. The light that can exist alongside the difficult emotions and, for me, the glue that helps hold everything together.
Created intuitively and without a predetermined outcome, the work also leaves room for your own story. A reminder to notice, honor, and hold onto the moments of joy that ground you through life's more complicated seasons.
